Another outstanding read from Jody Wenner. This one had me guessing until the very last few pages. This is not your typical mystery - it focuses more on the characters themselves. There were a few times I was so into that, that I forgot I was reading a mystery.Like her previous book Painting the Lake, Wenner never takes the easy way out. She also doesn't include excessive (if any) profanity or the stereotypical sex scenes. It's a breath of fresh air. I sure hope she has more books in the works, because her first two were fantastic.

I enjoyed this Minnesota mystery! The author did a good job of setting the scene of Tommy's disappearance and all of the mystery surrounding it. As a Minnesotan, I found the family's insistence on silence surrounding Tommy and his disappearance very familiar. Wenner is especially skilled at capturing the staid, strong, and often frustratingly silent Minnesota culture in her writing.
As the main character kept digging and the facts began to reveal themselves one by one, I was surprised by every one - I hadn't seen any of this coming! At the very end, it seemed that the big "reveals" seemed to be coming fast and furious, almost tumbling over each other. I might have liked the suspense to be drawn out a bit more. But that is a minor issue. I look forward to Jody Wenner's next novel!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are very interesting and the story is super engaging. I couldn't put it down!
I love all the family secrets in Leaving a Mark and it reminded me a little bit of A Prayer for Owen Meany and a little of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But it didn’t seem like a copy of those stories at all, it had similar themes. It felt very realistic to me and the complex mystery drew me in right away.
Jody Wennwr is so great at developing her characters and at making them all sympathetic, it's so easy to get wrapped up in their lives. This read like a memoir to me, and while I don't typically enjoy reading memoirs, I had a hard time puttting this one down. There was a little bit of mystery that kept me guessing until the end. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This is the second book from Jody Wenner that I have read and I LOVED it just as much as the first. It was hard to put down and now I'm sad it's over. I'm looking forward to her next book! This mom of three loves the short chapters so i could grab the book in between pick ups and knockout a chapter or two. I love the mix of drama and mystery plus the endings are unpredictable. Keep up the great work!
